April 20th was indicated by Roy as the earliest possible day we could get some indication on whether Brandan Wright is staying or going. Given that news like this usually breaks 12-14 hours ahead of the actual press conference it looks like it will not be today. Also add to that the fact the Buckeye trio of Oden, Conley, and Cook(yes Cook) are declaring their intentions today and it is fairly certain nothing will be known on Wright until next week. If I had to guess I would think Tuesday would be the day.
So is Wright staying or going? I honestly have no idea nor do I have any sources. It does appear to be a honest struggle to make a decision and I cannot be sure to what extent Wright is waiting as long as possible to see who else comes out and how that might impact his status. The two greatest dangers for Wright coming back are the risk of injury and the possibility he could lose that “great potential/upside” label. I happen to think, given his skills, it really does not make a difference where his stock is concerned. The risk of an injury is very real and he also has to answer the question of whether he would like to take the money now rather than a year from now.
My own personal opinion is that it is 60-40 in favor of Wright leaving which is actually much closer than I thought at the end of the season.

hey wrights probably not gonna come back, but could you imagine if he does? with EVERYONE going to the draft like two years ago, we would be unstoppable.
on a second thought remember last year since not alot of good players were going McRoberts was a lock to be selected within the top 14 HAHAHAHAHA! and last year everyone thought the reason he wasnt that productive was that redick and williams were there. He still was the same this year. I remember three years ago espn covering: Duke gets the top player in high school! 20 pts a game and 8 rebounds! UNC gets some 6-8 guy from missouri, but duke gets Josh McRoberts! 6-11! can jump real high! alley oop! I mean that summer everyone fell in love with the guy and a year later the guy never has a very good season at duke at all, wastes his high draft opportunity, the next year has the same mediocre season, enters the draft w/ an agent, has a chance to much much lower than he would have! I am so glad that annoying guy is gone.
I remember that same summer, Duke gets the ideal point guard! He was a quarterback in highschool! the missing piece! Hey, guys lets just ignore the horrific assist/turnover ratio he is going to have the next two years
oh yeah Btw remember last summer
Dick Vitale: Man this Henderson guy is super duper baby! talk about a diaper dandy!!!
nevermind the fact that he came off the bench for a depleted Duke team, he did not live up to expectations and now is one of the most hated duke players of all according to espn polls.
I expect the same busts in nolan smith and kyle singler
If you read Will Blythe’s book he quoted Adam Gold as saying that UNC would be lucky if Tyler Hansbrough ended up being as good as Carlos Boozer. Just goes to show how surprising things can turn out.
I wish Wright well whatever he decides. He’s probably a lottery pick now and it seems hard to believe he’ll go higher next year in a way that will spell considerably more bucks. Of course he could always go the safe route without an agent like Mike Conley and Daequan Cook of Ohio State, so he can test the waters more.
I’ll also be curious to see how Reshawn Terry fares in the draft. He certainly has the talent to go in the first round (and hope he is drafted high) but his at times inconsistent play at UNC may worry some NBA teams.
