Perhaps my favorite UNC team of all-time. Indeed, those were great times to be a Tar Heel fan. I never felt that we had the best team in the Final Four, but I didn't think that Arkansas or UCLA were that much better. These were the days of swagger: national title (check, 1993), coaching legend (check, Dean), ballers (check, need I do a checklist here?), big-game wins (ACC and NCAA, plus all of the expansive ESPN coverage), and optimism ('91-'98 brought about five Final Fours in eight years). The Arkansas loss hurt, but I always felt another title was coming...

Remember those rumors about how Rasheed Wallace wanted to come back for his junior season? Just imagine...

To this day, my brother swears Dante Calabria threw this game, and any poor performance by UNC in a Final Four will raise a Calabria reference. Just like this year against Kansas, when we got down early, he calls me and asks if Dante Calabria gave the pre-game speech.

As for the ACC tourney final against Wake, Childress put on one of the most amazing individual performances I have ever seen and I was glad I was in th building to see it. Even Carolina fans simply had to stand and applaud.

Sadly, apparently the NCAA upgrade isn't available in Winston-Salem, or else surely Tim Duncan or Chris Paul would have found a way to get ahold of one...

Easily my favorite Carolina team, hence my screen name. Coming off of the disappointment of the way the previous season ended, I had high hopes for this team to help get that taste out of my mouth. I quickly fell in love with the way these guys played together, especially the swagger Stack, Sheed, & Touche brought to the floor.

But the real kicker to this season was the fact that I was living in Louisville, KY at the time, surrounded by obnoxious, overconfident Wildcat fans. Once the brackets for the NCAA tournament were announced, I was bombarded by these UK fans telling me how badly they were going to beat UNC should they meet in the regional final. Needless to say, I have never experienced a sweeter victory over another team & fanbase as I did our 74-61 win that day!

One thing I have always wondered though…was Rick Pitino able to get a refund on the ballroom he had reserved the day before the game for the Wildcats victory celebration, lol.

I liked this TarHeel team alot, and never liked Hoggly Richardson. I had an employee that was an Ark fan, what a pain in the arse...... hmmm, come to think of it, he never got many raises while he was with us.

Good old Serge, I never thought he'd get off the bench when he first came on the team, he sure surprised me.

I have an autographed basketball from this team. One of our friends was a TarHeel cheerleader and hooked me up.

I remember the Kentucky game vividly...the dunks that Rasheed had at the end on feeds by Stackhouse were awesome. In the Arkansas game, didn't Stackhouse get hurt right in the first few minutes (hip pointer or a charley horse) and the result was that wasn't able to explode to the hoop like he had all season? I wanted to die after that loss...I hate Dwight Stewart to this day.

Johnny,

Well we were both sorta of right. Here is the play at the end of the half:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcatoUpQLrU

And here is the final minute of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Nr8BFj_Yx4&feature=related

And someone explain to me, for the love of Dean Smith, why the heck Calabria decided to commit a foul with 15 seconds left on the shot clock and 28 left on the game clock?
