Marcus Ginyard Out Until December?

Just a rumor floating around on the Inside Carolina message boards at present.  The current scuttlebutt is Ginyard will have surgery next week on his foot and be out for eight weeks to recover.

No confirmation from UNC on this one yet.

It has been interesting to me that Roy can only say so much about players injury situations because of the privacy laws that govern colleges. You’d have to guess that we would hear about this at least right after the procedure, if that happens.

Did Marcus have a toe problem last year?

Ginyard had some kind of foot/toe problem last season and according to the chatter on IC has always had trouble with his feet. Grain of salt warning on that. I do know it has been confirmed that Ginyard was seen wearing a boot this summer and the word was he would be ready for practice. Whatever the case I am all for getting him healthy and 100% by January even if that means playing without the best defender for the first 2-3 weeks.

Hey, been reading the site for a while via RSS but just registered today to share info on this.

For what it’s worth, I walked by Marcus (and talked to him for a second - we have a mutual friend in my freshman year roommate, a track team member) on Saturday on my way to the football game. It was right between the Rams Head Deck and the stadium in the little parking lot for athletes that are going to study hall. He seemed fine, wasn’t limping or anything, and wasn’t wearing anything special on his foot.

Granted I didn’t see him run around or dunk a basketball, but I’m not sure about this one…

That is a shame, but we should be pretty deep this year and he probably will be ready for most of the ACC schedule if this is true.

    THF,
Have you heard anymore concerning this rumor? I hope its not true and that the lack or reporting on it is evidence to that end.
Also, I left you a message on the 850 Blog.

No word officially. I am working off the message boards who are already discussing how Green will fit in for the time Ginyard is out. Some fairly reliable posters broke the news and the mods act like there is something to it but waiting for official word from UNC.

Why would he wait so long? Why would the coaching staff let him wait so long?

I think we can afford his recovery time before ACC regular seasos begins. A few tough games, but we should prevail.
