Hansbrough Will Not Play vs Kentucky[UPDATED]

So sayeth Roy.

Nothing substantive beyond that.  Is it just further precaution?  Is the injury not healing? Did Roy not feel comfortable inserting him back into lineup with only one practice before the game?

I am think it is one and three but feel free to speculate.

UPDATE: ACC Now does their usual outstanding job of getting the goods.  It sounds like they are being conservative but also trying to get his conditioning in order before moving forward.  Based on that, it seems that they are trying to ramp him up to a full workload and see if the shin handles it or not.  So if I had to guess at this point I’d say he plays in Maui and they might even wait for the 2nd game since the first one is against Chaminade who they should beat despite what happened in 1981 to UVa.

Let him rest. His will and determination have earned a break.

Based on this, sounds like things are progressing well and UNC is being smart. Both are lovely to hear!

  • Yes Sir C. Michael! I do worry a little, as the Kentucky game last year was within 12-15 the whole game wasn’t it? We shall see but I smell vitory.

You are correct, but, with Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley, that was a MUCH better Kentucky team than this year’s version.

  • Patrick Patterson? Is he still with them or did he declare last year?

  • Wayne Killian Silent Sam

Patterson scored 8 pts. & garnered 7 boards in the Wildcats’ loss to VMI.

Yeah, Patterson is still working his way back from injury. He’s definitely talented, but containing a big is a lot easier if his guards are sub-par.

Hoping this will all work out for the good of the team in the end (playing time for Davis and Zeller) but it doesn’t mean I’m not worried about Hansbrough and Ginyard.

I do believe we can smoke UK tonight. My gut feeling is that Wayne and Ty have BIG nights.

Ummmm, I’m starting to feel like there is something else not being said about Hansbrough’s condition. My worry meter is on the rise. I’m no Dr. or am I in Tyler’s condition, but recently I went from couch to marathon (well a couple of miles) and in the beginning my shins were on fire, shower water hurt, but that was fat me. It’s an overworked shin. Tyler should have had this when he was 14. I’m starting to smell something odd here.

  • Not necessarily. Having run at the D1 level in cross country I can tell you there are points where you have shin problems versus an issue like this. What happened here is the muscles in the lower leg became fatigued and it began to put stress on the bone. It is my understanding Hansbrough put on 20 more lbs of muscle since last season and it could be the extra weight with the insane regimen simply put too much stress on the shin. I don’t think they are hiding anything or this is worse than first thought I just think they want to be sure it is healed since they have the luxury to do so right now. I am optimistic he is back by Maui.

THF is right. This is nothing to worry about.
