Well deserved honor for Trimane Goddard and a nice high note to end his career at UNC on. Goddard also led the nation in game saving plays despite a crappy prevent defense.
Also, on the radar, the Car Bowl is sold out which I am sure makes the Car Bowl people happy. UNC sold it’s 22,500 alotment in about eight days. There were also great sales to UNC fans directly from the bowl itself which makes this a de facto home game for the Heels versus West Virginia. In this respect, UNC getting this bowl was probably not a bad thing. They will get to play in front of a full stadium of mostly Carolina Blue. Overall not a bad deal in my opinion.

Yeah, I think in the end it worked out pretty well playing in Charlotte. To be honest if we couldn’t play in the ACC championship, this is just fine. Beating WVU would be a nice way to end Butch’s second season, and would make the crapola of years past seem a distant memory.
Not to change the subject, but I thought some here might want to take a look at this ESPN article about Hansbrough:

Congratulations, although I must confess that I have never heard of you, Mr. Goddard until this moment and I watched several games this year.
How about some more basketball posts?
The stadium being full is so key for the new economy we’re in, don’t you think? I wouldn’t be surprised to see a drop in the number of bowl games in the near future if the climate gets any colder.
But the overall positive for UNC football is that next year looks to be even better. Carolina is back, and next year I would bet we could think January rather than December come post-season. Meanwhile we can pull the hat-trick on the Big East.
That’s great news for Goddard! How long has it been since our last all-American?
THF: i absolutely love your header image. having said that, are we not at a point where a tiny portrait (in the corner or something) of coach davis is in order? just a thought.
Playing in Charlotte, Nicks’s hometown, is the perfect venue for him to end his college career. He’ll have lots of family and friends watching, a way for him to go out in a blaze of glory.
Sorry about this post beforehand. Is anyone watching Duke? I find it amazing that every game we play we find ourselves having to hear about how good Duke is from the commentators. They get to play defense rougher than anyone else in college basketball in their own gym. If we were allowed to play opposing guards the way they are being allowed to tonight, I have no doubt we could beat any team in the top 10 by 25 plus, every game.
I am watching it.
I also heard Elmore say that K is concerned that there is no real distinction between his starters and the guys on his bench. That sounds like a problem to me.
Elmore also claimed that had depth which might be true. The quality is probably not there.
I saw one of the worst offensive foul calls go against UNCA. The player went up shot the ball, came down in front of the Duke defender, brushed him with his chest, Duke player flops and boom charge call.
If Duke does not hit threes they are pretty bad. A lot of turnovers by this crew against a team that is not that good.
And I don’t know who the play by play guy is but he just confused Mike Paulus with TJ Yates. Said Paulus was hurt and came back.
