You know last week in Raleigh it was sunny and 80 degrees. It was a great day to be outside but there was the UNC-Duke game so I was distracted. Today we have UNC out of the ACC Tournament and Duke playing FSU for the title so how is the weather here? Raining and 40 degrees. Gee, thanks.
Anyone want to bet that all those jumpshots that fell for FSU on Saturday mysteriously find a way to rim out or miss completely? Then again I think Toney Douglas is on a mission. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder over finishing 2nd for ACC POY. Hopefully he can close the deal and deny Duke the title.
Comments if you have them.

Yep, I’m expecting that Douglas will catch whatever Danny Green had…..
I didn’t get read most of the other threads but my thought coming into today’s game that fate might be on FSU’s side. They dodged Clemson, then got UNC without Lawson and a coach that didn’t care.
there’s a game? hmph.
I’m just waiting for the 6:00 selection show. I might watch NBA basketball if I get bored.
‘Phat Phil’ Mickelson is co-leading (?) a PGA tournament this weekend, and some fella named Woods is back playing again. Just saying.
Seminoles got Semi-nothing…no answers.
7 / 14 is hard to beat. FSU doesn’t seem to be running in the same gear offensively as yesterday. Here’s to hoping for FSU rally start 2nd half
The typical adoration-fest for all things “K” is nigh to unbearable.
That was 7 /14 from 3-point range, for Duk in 1st half. Good start to 2nd half for FSU, still down by 11 but some 3-pointers starting to go in the hoop
FSU was 5 / 23 FG shooting in 1st half. U G L Y
Was there any doubt Florida State would not show up today?
I really, really wish FSU would just fight back. But that won’t happen. I do not want to go to school tommorow.
I am so glad we aren’t beating ourselves up today. Just 3 weeks left in the season and I’m sure the guys are preparing to go all-out and play their best basketball possible starting tomorrow. Can’t wait to find out the possible match-ups.
I have resorted to watching UTSA vs. SFA. Pointless but better than watching dook.
What a disaster. The Dookies are sure to be cackling about why we lost to a team they routed.
there’s a game?
The dookies are going to be cackling until we go to Detroit and they go home in the first round.
well, FSU squeaked past GT in round 1 and could’ve played an extra session (potentially) yesterday. Duke is way tough if they shoot 3’s like this
Well I am pretty disappointed in FSU’s performance today. Never fails that we get everyones best shot.
Congratulations Duke: hard work, intensity, smart play, and consistent defense are virtues that should be, and in this case are rewarded. Well deserved IMO! Maybe our guys were watching.
Yeah, Keith, and then some.
It does bother me that when we do play lockdown defense, it always results in a foul. Recall the Green, Hansbrough, Lawson steals that seemed not only clean, but done in the ACC without seeing a whistle, only to be called for it when we do it. Then again, while we can’t afford to get in foul trouble by guarding people too close, we do play good defense in spite of that, and often put other teams near shot clock violations. So we can be good at times. Our defense has some holes that officiating has nothing to do with like allowing guards to come off screens with both options of shooting wide open 3’s or having a lane to cut into. That part of it we can only blame ourselves. But when it comes to stripping the ball away from people, we can do that real well I think, but often times we get the foul called for it, which is very discouraging, again, because we ARE good at that type of defense.
3 Duke fans roll into GA dome, one guy says “We are on the row 1 so nobody will be in front of us” The guy next to him(i kid you not) says “OH,REALLY?” I am sure he acted surprised because he didn’t know it was row 1, but in my head I saw it as….duh…there isn’t anything before row 1. MAYBE I am bitter UNC isn’t playing.
Duke got it done. Congrats. (Dang it, K is one ACCT title closer to Dean). The long ball and a slight free throw margin was the difference, although FSU made it closer than it probably should have been. Duke’s D was competent, but nothing ouststanding, and the outcome was never in doubt. I’m also kind of surprised Duke outrebounded FSU. I really wanted at them in this tournament, but it wasn’t meant to be. Maybe next year. I’m still having a hard time figuring how far they can go in the NCAAT. Probably not past Sweet 16 because they still don’t really have that balanced an inside/outside game, and that basket will shrink sooner or later.
looking at the play-by-play list, it looks like Dook won the game in a short stretch of 5 3s in a row early. Dook often beats teams early. its a shame a lot of teams dont grasp that and play accordingly.
FSU shot better overall. Singler was 2 of 13 outside the 3 3s in a row.
but 4 Dook turnovers is very very good. exceptional. but thats what K did with the lineup change, he took the turnover players out. and the big 3 play almost every minute. we’ll see if the 3ball falls for 6 straight games. i’m thinking not.
Yeah, I really don’t see Duke being any better than an elite 8 team. Even at that, I would consider this to be a good showing for them.
