Weekend Open Thread

I will be traveling this weekend for a wedding and I am not taking my laptop along so should any news break concerning Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington it will have to wait until late Saturday night.  Feel free to discuss whatever. I just hope I don’t end up like James Worthy in this [...]

Heels Celebrate Championship Season

UNC held their annual basketball banquet on Thursday night honoring the players who helped bring to Chapel Hill a fifth NCAA title.  The banquet also included senior speeches, of which Mike Copeland stole the show apparently and some crying from Roy Williams.  Here is a quick rundown of the awards:

Co-MVP: Ty Lawson and Tyler [...]

Did I Mention I Really Like This Ed Davis Kid?

Ed Davis’ hometown paper catches up with him over the weekend.  We knew Davis was impressive on the court but he is equally impressive with the things he says off of it.

UNC Basketball Awards Banquet Tonight

No doubt these are a lot sweeter when celebrating a national title. The banquet will be held at the Smith Center and is open to the public with the doors opening at 6:30. The ceremony will begin at 7 PM.

Parrish: Davis Returning Could Mean Back-to-Back Titles

There you go.  The first of many of these no doubt and if John Wall ends up in Chapel Hill then you will read one of these a week….at least.

I picked up my SI 2009 National Championship Commemorative issue this evening.  Here it is alongside the 1993 and 2005 versions.

Ed Davis Will Return

Outstanding

“I am returning to North Carolina for my sophomore season and will not apply for the NBA Draft,” says Davis. “I love being a student at Carolina and playing with my teammates for Coach (Roy) Williams. I’d like to play in the NBA someday, but my family and I don’t think I’m ready to [...]
