Kicker Jay Wooten To Transfer

More shuffling of players.

Jay Wooten split FG kicking duties with Casey Barth last season but handled all of the kickoffs. While no reason was given for the transfer nor has UNC had anything official to say about it I am going to wildly speculate that Wooten had no interest in a similar arrangement next season or he was a clear #2 behind Barth heading into August.  The oddity of the news is it comes fairly late in the game.  Most transfers happen right after the academic year ends, especially in football.  Practice starts in one month, which really does not matter to a transfer since he will sit a season anyway.

I am sure this news will spawn more “waiver wire” talk from our ABC friends.

  • Dennis Heels Perspective

The “waiver wire” thing is always amusing since TOB cleaned out his house as well. TOB is of the opinion that his organization is “performance based”. Coach Davis practices this as well. Many of the players transferring out of UNC because they were told their playing time would be limited or some gave up their football careers due to chronic injuries.

If Davis was truly “cutting” players one would think that someone, a player, a parent or even someone from the staff would blow a whistle.

Evidently Barth has the FG duties and Schallock and Feagles will handle the other duties.

On a related matter, I see Dixon and Farms are going to prep school. With the loss of Stahl, the Heels ironically might be under the 85 player limit.
