Summer of Deon! Update[7/6]

Team USA celebrated the Fourth of July by dismantling South Korea 113-76 to move to 2-0 in University Games play. Seven Americans were in double digits and it sounds as though they all had a rollicking good time.

Deon Thompson was, Tyler Hansbrough efficient, scoring 12 points in 12 minutes of play.  Not a bad evening of work.

I guess I’m glad they won, but was anyone on the SK team over 6′ tall?

  • Not sure but I can tell you that my three year old South Korean born daughter can flat-out dribble a basketball.

As long as they play hard and are classy, any athlete that represents the U.S.A. in any sport has my respect. Cheat, trash your hotel rooms (U.S. Olympic hockey players in Nagano), diss the opposing team (most of the U.S. Pan Am b-ball team under George Karl did not shake their opponents’ hands after their 6th place finish) — not so much. Go Deon!

Not sure where else to post this but there. In case anyone cares, I went and watched USA v Greece at the U19 Fiba world champs last night (in New Zealand). I had the pleasure(?) of watching Dook’s Seth Curry play for the first time.

Here’s my particularly in-depth scouting report – he looks like his brother, but has the game of his mother. Yip, that’s right folks – another Dookie sucks.
