What is Tar Heel Fan?

Tar Heel Fan is an independent blog focused primarily on the University of North Carolina football and basketball teams. I occasionally delve into general issues but mainly I like to keep it focused on UNC. It is comprised of one writer, myself, and a cast of commenters who occasionally drop by.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

I am just a fan who tried his hand at blogging his personal life(boring) and politics(too stressful and divisive) before settling on UNC which has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember. I enjoy writing and registering an opinion which I did some on the Inside Carolina message board but I found having my own forum which I was supreme ruler over has it’s advantages. I am also a husband to a beautiful wife and father of three young children who are presently being indoctrinated on all things Tar Heel related.

Do you have any goals?

None per se other than the possible hope this might turn into something of a career if I were noticed by the right people. Other than that my goal is to present intellectually honest opinions on UNC football and basketball as well as fight the growing evil which spreads from Durham.

Which do you like better basketball or football?

I would have to say basketball because I have spent much more time watching it and I understand it extremely well. I grew up watching UNC basketball with my late father who was tragically lost to my family a few hours before UNC took the floor against Michigan State in the 2005 Final Four. So watching basketball now and even some of what happens on this site is an outlet for the conversations he and I would have about UNC and remembering the times we spent together. I like football but the last nine years have made liking football at UNC a very difficult task.

Where do you find the time?

I do a lot of blogging at night, sometimes with a laptop in front of the TV with my wife. My blogging hosts has lots of fun options for posting stuff for future release so I can do a whole day’s content ahead of time and not touch my blog all day but still have it fresh with new material.
