UNC has already gone through the 14,000 ticket allotment it received from the good folks at the Car Bowl. None too shocking consdering UNC sold out the same bowl in 2004 and the Heels were decidedly not as good as this version. Since this is also the first bowl appearance since that one, the excitement level is undoubtedly very high. Word is West Virginia is selling their allotment fairly quickly as well and since they were part of the only other sellout this bowl has had(2002 vs UVa) it stands to reason Bank of America Stadium will be loaded on December 27th.

And because I am in no way willing to give Meineke free advertising this bowl will henceforth be called the Car Bowl on THF.
Just between you and me? I cannot decide if Mickey Mouse is just some fun loving kids character or a cult leader. That castle at the Magic Kingdom looks like it could be a temple.
A huge thank you to all of you for holding the fort down on the open thread while I was gone.
Heels finish regular season 8-4. That is what I call progress.
Where: Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, NC
When: Saturday, November 29th, 3:30 PM
TV: ESPNU
Records: UNC 7-4, 3-4 ACC; Duke 4-7, 1-6 ACC
It’s still Duke and the Heels should be mad as wasps after having their nest knocked down with a stick by some curious seven year old. Speaking from a personal experience wasps are not happy when you do that.
In 2004 UNC won the final by beating Iowa 106-92. Iowa was not #8 in the country at the time.
Horrible news.
Senior linebacker Mark Paschal suffered a “cervical spine injury” versus NC State and had been advised to quit football. Paschal has been the heart and soul of the Tar Heel defense this season and also the leading tackler. His presence on the field will obviously be missed. That, however, is a secondary issue. Any time you see the words “spinal” and “injury” in the same sentence it is monumentally scary. The doctors have said he will make a full recovery and go on to lead a normal life. For that much we can be thankful though I am sure it is something that will always be in the back of his mind. You also feel bad for a kid who was looking forward to playing his final two games as a Tar Heel with hopes of helping UNC to nine wins for the first time since 1997.
THF sends a huge “thank you” out to Mark Paschal for all his hard work as a player and team leader to help build the Tar Heel football program back to prominence.
I really don’t care. At least not right now. Actually, no I don’t care about the rest of the ACC but in case you do VT wins the Coastal if the beat UVa, if not it will be Georgia Tech. BC wins the Atlantic if they beat Maryland if not it will be FSU. All I care about now is UNC beating Duke to finish 8-4 and the Heels in Maui. Besides that my picks this season have sucked.
Record This Week: 2-4
Record This Season: 55-35
You know what, I am going to let frequent reader J.Bowling write this one straight from the comments on the previous post.

That’s about it. No manner of spin or hand wringing matters. UNC got their rear ends kicked all over the field. They simply did not show up today while NC State repeatedly punched them in the mouth. And yeah the Pack played a heck of a game. Russell Wilson is the real deal for them at QB.
For whatever reason UNC stopped playing football after beating Georgia Tech. Either that or the Tate injury and the fact TJ Yates was out and just has returned finally caught up to them on the balance sheet. It really could not have come at a worse time since now we are subjected to another year of scoreboard calls and assertions Tom O’Brien owns Butch Davis which for the moment appears to be the case.
All I know is the Heels better get their act together and handle Duke next week. 8-4 is plenty respectable and a definite sign of progress.
