Memorial Day Weekend Wrap-up

Hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend and hope you remembered the sacrifice of those who fought and died to keep our nation free. Some things you may have missed while you were at the beach or the barbecue:

** UNC’s baseball team made the NCAA tournament despite not even making the ACC tournament. [...]

The SCACC Hoops All Time Tournament

The good fellows over at SCACC Hoops have used their game simulator to put on a tournament of all time great ACC teams. The tournament has run its course and the 2009 Tar Heels beat the 1999 Duke Blue Devils 3-2 in a best of five series.

Preview Of ACC Basketball Schedule

ACC Now, using the three year schedule rotation, takes a look at the ACC slate for 2010-11. Joe Giglio says NCSU has drawn the toughest schedule and that it is entirely possible Duke could go undefeated if everything breaks right(shoot me now.) UNC’s slate looks like this:

UNC (8 to 10) Twice: Duke, N.C. State, [...]

Wears Opt for UCLA

Worst. Kept. Secret. Ever.

I am guessing they wanted to see how “Lost” and “24″ turned out before making it official.

We can officially close the book on David and Travis Wear who will get to eat homemade macaroni and cheese while being role contributors in Ben Howland’s “offense.”

Here’s the deal. I have built [...]

Knox to UNC

According to Inside Carolina, Justin Knox informed the coaching staff Monday evening he would transfer to UNC. That was also confirmed by Fox Sports’ Jeff Goodman who tweeted the same based on text messages from Knox’s uncle Darien Knox.

Darien Knox indicated earlier in the evening that an announcement would be forthcoming on Tuesday. Obviously [...]

Sunday’s News & Notes

Scouring the interwebs to bring you news on the Tar Heel front…

**The UNC baseball team needed to win out against #12 Virginia Tech and still needed some help to even make the ACC baseball tournament in Greensboro, as only the top 8 teams get to participate. The Heels did their part, earning a three-game [...]

LAX-tra: #6 UVA women @ #3 UNC; #5 Duke men vs. #4 UNC [UPDATED]

The NCAA lacrosse playoffs continue this weekend with Final Four berths on the line for both the Carolina men and women. That the Heels are competing this weekend to advance to the national semifinals is not unusual, given that the men are four-time national champs and the women played in the national title game last [...]

Knox: UNC or Georgia Tech

I am with Doc on this one. It seems like a no brainer with the caveat being Justin Knox has a one year old child who is living with his girlfriend in Alabama so distance from them might be an issue. The other side of the equation is in this quote from Knox:

“There was [...]

Four UNC Football Players Named Preseason All-American

By Phil Steele who many people consider to be a fairly smart guy on this kind of stuff.  The four Tar Heels in question, who I think should be referred to as the Four Horsemen Of Ending Your QB’s Career, are: Marvin Austin, Robert Quinn, Bruce Carter(1st team) and Quan Sturdivant(2nd team). Take note that [...]

Knox Update: UNC Leads

Via Inside Carolina:

After the visit, North Carolina has emerged as the leader for Knox’s services over Georgia Tech, South Alabama, Georgia State and Southern Miss. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native has confirmed scholarship offers from all five schools.

“There’s no doubt that North Carolina is leading the pack,” Knox said. “From the information I get [...]

UNC Offers Knox

Former Alabama player is taking a two day visit at UNC as we speak and according to his uncle, Darien Knox, received a scholarship offer from Roy Williams.

Via Kevin Scarbinsky at The Birmingham News:

Just got a text message from Darien Knox, the uncle of former Alabama basketball player Justin Knox. The text said [...]
