Summer of Deon is Bronze

Not as good as the last one which was silver.  Team USA finished up the World University Games by defeating Israel 90-81. Thompson had seven points and six rebounds in the win.  Through ten games in his stint with Team USA, Thompson averaged 9.6 ppg and 5.9 rpg.  Obviously we have long concluded that Thompson’s [...]

After throttling Bulgaria in the quarterfinals, Team USA gave way a ten point lead in the fourth quarter to lose 69-68 versus Russia.  The Russians outscored Team USA 20-9 in the final period of play to close out the win.  Deon Thompson shook off a six point, five [...]

Summer of Deon! Update[7/6]

Team USA celebrated the Fourth of July by dismantling South Korea 113-76 to move to 2-0 in University Games play. Seven Americans were in double digits and it sounds as though they all had a rollicking good time.

Deon Thompson was, Tyler Hansbrough efficient, scoring 12 points in 12 minutes of play.  Not a [...]

Next up: South Korea.

Summer of Deon! Update[6/30]

I was going to say that Deon Thompson is still fighting the Cold War but I think he missed most of it.

Team USA won a typical Bo Ryan coached basketball game 67-63 versus Russia.  Only two Americans were in double figures. Corey Fisher had 15 and Deon Thompson had 12 points to go along [...]

The Summer Of Deon Returns!

Oh yeah.

Deon Thompson has been selected to represent the United States on World University Games basketball team. Thompson, who will be the focal point of the Heels offense in 2009-10 will certainly benefit from playing on the international stage through the summer.

Team USA will practice in Colorado through June 24th before heading to [...]
