Some teams start to get untangled from the weeds.
Matt Doherty brought his SMU Mustangs to Minges Coliseum to face ECU on Wednesday. SMU would have been better off staying home as the Pirates wailed on them 82-54. Doherty’s Mustangs are now 8-18 which is an unfortunate turn for a guy who was at one point sitting on top of the basketball world albeit only briefly.

Tennessee is ranked #1 for about 29 hours and goes down at Vanderbilt which everyone and their brother saw coming. As Roy is fond of saying, they do not give out trophies just because you win one big game in the middle of the regular season.
In terms of what this means for UNC, the door is now open to grab that #1 seed in the East Regional. All the Heels have to do is take care of business going down the stretch including on March 8th in Durham.
And a note to the SEC. Your $25,000 fine for students rushing the floor/field is an idiotic rule. Vandy beats a top ranked cross state rival and they cannot even storm the floor to celebrate? Pretty weak tea.
